During the run up to the last General Election Gemma organised the Local Hustings at Emmanuel Baptist Church where I am the Church Administrator. She booked the venue in good time and was clear on the arrangements, considering every aspect of the evening and keeping me informed of her requirements for the event, including checking the capacity as we were expecting over 200 people, and all the seating arrangements and liaising with the tech team.
Gemma had contacted all the candidates ahead of time and made sure of their availability. She kept me informed of who was coming, checking that the church would be comfortable with some of the more controversial independent candidates.
Having known Gemma and her family for a couple of years I was very impressed with her professionalism in organising and running the event. She was very much in control in a calm and pleasant way with the candidates, the public and the team of helpers. All the details were covered right down to water and glasses on the platform for the speakers.
Gemma had used various media links to ask people to send in their questions prior to the meeting and had collated them and asked two people to read out the questions and a very competent chairperson to keep ‘order’.
This kept the meeting interesting and grouping the topics worked well. There was still time for individuals to ask questions from the floor although most ‘hot topics’ had been covered. It was a really good evening and everyone appreciated the planning which had gone into the event.
At the end Gemma thanked everyone involved and I would have no hesitation in working with her again in the future.
